The Kaua’i DomeGaia Community is a fun, co-creative Community on a beautiful piece of land in Kaua’i, where Members have their food and shelter needs met so they can relax, tune in to their higher calling, and choose work that is meaningful to them, all while propagating low cost, high quality, eco-friendly, beautiful Air Crete Dome Homes throughout the world.

The Community principally supports itself by hosting workshops to teach DomeGaia building techniques, but has tremendous flexibility designed to empower members to do what they love and be supported while doing it. Domes built through these workshops are designated Community Centers where members may choose to offer classes or training, hold community events (including parties, jam sessions, and other fun events), and a Community kitchen for meal sharing. There is a strong emphasis on fun, and embracing joy as the guiding light to the soul’s true calling, within the Community Culture.

Personal development, permaculture, harmonious interaction with nature, respect for sacred spaces, and the cultivation of beauty and sacred space are all deeply embedded in the DomeGaia Kaua’i Community culture. Support for the youth and passing our knowledge & skills on to the children is intrinsic to the Kaua’i Community culture (malama na keiki ‘o Kaua’i!).

Community Members have tremendous freedom to make any decision that inspires them so long as they follow the Advice Process and consult with those affected by their decision + seek expert advice. A culture of humility and continuous learning is fostered and members are trusted to be thoughtful and accountable for their actions, decisions, and commitments.

The Kaua’i Community exists as an autonomous Community within the greater network of DomeGaia Communities and has access to the resource pools of wisdom, talent, knowledge, & tools shared by these Sister Communities. We adopt the DomeGaia Communities Self-Governance Guidelines as a foundation from which to evolve our own individual set of practices that works for us, via the Self-Management principles and Advice Process established therein.

Due to the peculiar nature of Kaua’i zoning and housing laws, we envision our initial community buildings to all be non-residential community centers, including an “Ag-processing kitchen”, plus various spaces (indoor and outdoor) where classes and events may be offered. Initial residents on the Community land “Glamp”[1] (as many Hawaii residents do) in the year-round temperate weather and the beauty of nature. They beautify their surroundings with gardens, permaculture, privacy hedges / bamboo, and other natural growth. The sanctification and peaceful enjoyment of outdoor sacred spaces is valued.  When and if Kaua’i County laws change to allow further residential occupancy of land, the Decision Making process will be invoked to determine how the Community can make the best of those changes.

The Kaua’i community is one of the first DomeGaia communities, and therefore serves a model and learning hub, designed for worldwide propagation. The DomeGaia Kaua’i community is actively listening to sense “What does the World Need?” and find ways for the members’ talents, skills, resources, and interests to fulfill those needs.

[1] Glamping = upscale Camping, can be pretty Deluxe in Kaua’i.
