Self-Governance of the Habitats for Happiness
The Habitats for Happiness are Autonomous, Self-Managing Organizations. They enjoy a business relationship with DomeGaia which (if they choose to take advantage of it) can supply them with an excellent income, yet each individual Community is entirely self-governed and self-regulated.
The Principles of Self-Management hold that the Collective Intelligence of any System is greater than that of any one member and that most decisions are best made by those who directly experience the effects of those decisions. The fundamental decision-making process of a Self-Managing Organization is the "Advice Process". In the Advice Process, anyone can make any decision so long as they ask the advice of anyone likely to be affected by their decision & people with expertise in the matter. It is used by many successful businesses as a way to maximize personal involvement and power while keeping everybody cooperatively well-informed without a lot of Management or meetings. For full details on how Self-Managing organizations work, you may want to read Frederic Laloux's book "Reinventing Organizations". |
DomeGaia has a tremendous influx of excitement and customers, more than it can currently handle. Rather than growing by conventional corporate methods, it is choosing to grow by creating self-managing Eco-Communities that have the option of hosting DomeGaia training centers to promote the DomeGaia vision of widespread beautiful, affordable, weather-resistant housing. Hosting a training center is not only profitable, it can also result in a lot of the Community's buildings being paid for and constructed by workshop attendees.
And we are taking it one step further: Our vision is for the homes to exist in harmony with their environment, for long-term, sustainable earth-friendly solutions. So we are actively seeking participants who share our passion for organic permaculture, renewable energy resources, farm-to-table lifestyles, and other sustainable earth-friendly solutions. Our Intention is to help six start-up communities who share this vision get established within the next three years.
